Ivy League's Pre-School Director, Vicki Cutler,
truly loves working with children and finds early childhood education most rewarding. As a graduate of The American
University in Washington, D.C., and with her vast experience in Early Childhood Education, Vicki brings her wonderful
love for children, teaching and her unending enthusiasm to IL. The IL staff of teachers are certified and along with
their assistants establish a classroom environment for the children that is educational, secure, creative, warm and
caring.
Each classroom is most stimulating for the children with educational tools designed for each level of pre-school education. Every classroom has state-of-the-art facilities with computers in every classroom. Children play daily either outside in our beautiful playground or in our indoor gym. Interesting enrichment activities are enjoyed by the children throughout the year, such as our Chick Hatching, Musical Programs and End of Year Shows.
Vicki would be happy to answer any of your questions and arrange for a personal tour. Come see why we are so proud of our school. Programs start as early as 18 months, through full day Kindergarten.
Full Day Kindergarten Program
offers a wide variety of materials to meet and to challenge the needs of children. Our philosophy is to develop a child's ability to read through the learning of phonics. We use the Scott-Foresman/Silver Burdett reading and math program. Each child can use independent readers, big books and literature daily. Learning through writing and expressing one's thoughts in log form is another important aspect of Kindergarten. Handwriting and letter formation is stressed.
We offer a wide variety of computer skills on Internet accessed high-speed computers. Playtime is one of the best times of the day, either in our gymnasium or in our state of the art playground. Our children will develop such wonderful self worth so that first grade will continue to light up their educational thirsts.
K-Enrichment
This creative program is designed to encourage kindergarten students to learn to read using the sounds of each consonant and vowel. By putting sounds together each child will become a reader at his or her own speed. Proper instruction of handwriting is emphasized. Addition, subtraction, patterning, money and clockwork are taught to increase each child's skillful development. Science, social studies, and computer games are also an integral part of this program.
Kinder Prep
Our program for four year olds promotes self-confidence and self-discipline. It will introduce reading and math readiness activities. A number and letter book will be an ongoing yearly project. Bringing in a lunch item that starts with the letter of the week and experience charts will help develop sentence structure for each child. For this exciting age group, science, social studies, computers and art projects will be all part of their educational curriculum.
Two and a Half Year Old Program
This program's emphasis is on socialization, independent participation in teacher-directed activities and a greater acceptance of limits. Children will be challenged by stimulating play material, equipment and child made projects.
Three-Year-Old Program
Our three year old children's program stresses independence, accepting responsibility and learning to get along with other children in a group situation. Our children are encouraged to develop and mature physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually. Each child shall begin learning his or her name, as well as starting to print it. Letters and numbers will be learned through daily activities.
Transitional (Explorers)
Our program has been designed for the young child ages 24-30 months, who is ready to be in a school situation without a parent for a limited amount of time. Parents will stay and participate in this learning experience. Then, the children will be on their own to play, socialize and interact with others when their parents leave.
Mommy and Me (Little Leaguers)
This program is designed to create special time for Mothers and Children ages 18-24 months. The program consists of creative play, music, gym, and simple craft projects.
