Jack Perri, Founder and Head Coach

Jack Perri, is realizing a long held dream of starting a youth basketball camp in his home town of Manalapan, NJ. A Manalapan High School 93’ alum, Jack was a standout basketball star and is a Braves Hall of Fame inductee. Currently, the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Division I Long Island University in Brooklyn, Coach Perri has helped lead the Blackbirds to three NCAA tournament appearances in recent years (2011, 2012 & 2013). He has over 16 years of collegiate coaching experience at the Division I, II, & III levels.

Following his successful high school career, Jack went on to play at Division II Bentley University in Waltham, MA. At Bentley, Jack was a scholarship player and two-year team captain. Following his graduation, Jack moved to the sidelines as the top assistant coach at his alma mater. As the top assistant from 1998 to 2004, he was responsible for all aspects of recruiting and helped build a squad that went on to earn the No. 1 national ranking in 2004-05 and a No. 2 ranking in 2006-07. During his time on the staff with the Falcons, he helped the team return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in eight seasons in 2002.

Coach Perri served as the head men's basketball coach at Division III Rhode Island College in 2004-05. In his lone season at Rhode Island College, he took the Anchormen to the final of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament after posting a 20-9 record. Under Perri's direction, Rhode Island College captured the program's first Little East Conference co-regular season championship and he was named the league's coach of the year in his first season at the helm.

In 2005, Jack became the Assistant Coach at Division I Long Island University in Brooklyn. Since joining the LIU staff, Coach Perri has helped the team steadily move up the ladder in the NEC. He has seen 10 players earn All-NEC honors. Coach Perri was tabbed as the top assistant in the NEC by Jeff Goodman's FoxSports.com blog prior to the 2010-11 season. In 2013, Jack became just the second recipient of the Joe B. Hall National Coach of the Year award, handed out annually to the top first-year head coach at the NCAA Division I level. In that same year, Coach Perri helped the Blackbirds make history by being the first team in the NEC to win back-to-back-to-back conference championship titles and return to the NCAA tournament for the third year in a row.

In 2012, Perri returned to live in Manalapan with his wife Julie and their children, Sean, Jackson, & Charlotte.  Jack loves being back in his hometown, watching his own children participate in the wonderful educational and athletic opportunities that he benefitted from as a child.  Coach Perri looks forward to helping the youth in his community develop their basketball IQ, skills, sportsmanship, and love of the game.  He couldn’t think of a better home for his camp than Ivy League Day Camp, an institution in the Manalapan community. Coach Perri is thrilled to partner with the Leiser family to bring high quality basketball programs to the children of Monmouth County.
